Hey, Hilton Head Island residents! If you’ve been dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and struggling to find the best place to get rid of your excessive yard debris, I’ve got some good news for you. The town has set up a special drop-off location that’s only here for a limited time to help you out!
So where can you take that pile of branches, leaves, and other landscaping debris? The Coastal Discovery Museum property, located at 70 Honey Horn Drive, is now open for residents. But don’t wait too long; it will only be available for two more days! After that, you’ll need to consider other options.
It’s important to note that this drop-off site is specifically for tree and landscaping debris. So if you have furniture, appliances, or anything else that doesn’t fall into that category, you’ll need to head to another facility. When you arrive at the museum, unloading your items is at your own risk, so make sure you’re careful while getting rid of your stuff!
Don’t worry about getting lost—there will be town staff and clear signage to help guide you as you drive in. You can access the site from either Gumtree Road or William Hilton Parkway. Just glance for those friendly faces and signs, and you’ll be on your way to a cleaner yard in no time!
Now, if you have other types of debris that had no relation to your yard work, you can drop them off at the Beaufort County Convenience Center located at 26 Summit Drive. This site is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Wednesdays. Just a friendly reminder: you’ll still need to have your resident decal with you to dispose of the storm debris there.
After a major storm like Hurricane Helene, it can be overwhelming to manage the mess it leaves behind. Having a designated drop-off location is a big step in helping our community recover. It’s not just about making our homes look better; it’s also about keeping our environment safe and clean, free from excess debris that can attract pests or cause further issues.
As we all know, weather can be unpredictable. It’s always a good idea to stay informed about any changes in town services or potential upcoming severe weather. If you haven’t already, consider subscribing to local updates so that you can stay in the loop on the latest information regarding storm recovery, safety tips, and valuable resources like this drop-off site.
Taking the time to clear out debris not only helps your yard but also contributes to the overall well-being of our beautiful Hilton Head Island community. Let’s do our part to keep it looking its best post-Hurricane Helene! Remember, you only have a short time left to take advantage of this drop-off location, so gather your yard debris and head over before it’s too late!
Happy cleaning, everyone!
