Weather Alert: Savannah’s Shifting Conditions

Hey folks! Have you noticed the weather has been a bit unpredictable lately in Savannah? Well, today, we’re looking at a partly cloudy day with afternoon temperatures reaching the lower 80s. A lovely breeze is expected too, with winds coming in from the north at about 10 to 15 miles per hour and even gusting up to 25 miles per hour along the coast. If you’re planning to head outside, don’t forget to hold onto your hats!

Upcoming Weather Changes

Now, here’s the scoop: there’s a weak area of low pressure making its way onshore late Monday into Tuesday. What does that mean for us? Well, it brings along a high risk of rip currents, with a possibility of minor coastal flooding and some erosion along our beautiful shores. Despite this low pressure system moving in from the north, the chances of rain for Monday and Tuesday are minimal, so if you’ve got outdoor plans, it looks like you might just be in luck!

As we transition into Tuesday morning, we can expect a delightful drop in temperatures. Communities inland may see the mercury dip down into the lower 60s, while in Savannah, it’ll linger around the mid 60s—perfect weather for that morning commute! But not to fear, we’ll warm back up in the afternoon as temperatures climb into the mid 80s.

Midweek Warm-Up

As we approach the second half of the week, it looks like more warm weather is headed our way! By Wednesday afternoon, we should see highs in the mid to upper 80s, and Thursday could potentially bring us close to a sweltering 90 degrees. If you’re someone who loves the sun, this is definitely your time to shine!

However, keep your umbrella handy, as there are low-end rain chances sprinkled across the latter part of the week. Even if a few drops do fall, it’s not expected to be anything too serious. Just a little sprinkle here and there to keep things fresh!

The Weekend Ahead

The weekend forecast is looking pretty nice! We’ll experience a slight cool down starting Friday, with highs expected in the mid 80s. Saturday and Sunday are also projected to stay in the comfortable low to mid 80s range, making it a great time to enjoy all that Savannah has to offer.

Tropical Update

Oh, and let’s not forget about the tropical situation stirring in our waters! Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight is hanging out about 100 miles off the South Carolina coast and is showing signs of strengthening into Tropical Storm Helene before it makes landfall today. This means we’ll continue to watch for that high risk of rip currents along with a slight chance of coastal flooding and erosion. Thankfully, it appears that this is just a coastal concern and shouldn’t pose any major threats to our area.

On the other hand, Tropical Storm Gordon is swirling over the central Atlantic but is not expected to impact land at all, so no worries there!

Stay Tuned!

So there you have it! A mix of breezy, warm days ahead with a few weather changes to keep an eye on. Enjoy your time outdoors, stay cautious along the coast, and make sure to keep an eye on the latest updates. It’s all about enjoying our beautiful Savannah weather while staying safe!
