Voting Time for The Island Packet’s Player of the Week!

Hey there, football fans of Beaufort! It’s that thrilling time of the week again where you get to help choose the Player of the Week for high school football in our area. As the action on the field heats up, so does the excitement of recognizing those standout players who make the game so enjoyable. This week, we’ve got five amazing nominees who all made waves in their games last week, and now it’s up to you to decide who will take home the coveted title!

How to Vote

Friday at noon and cast your votes. Oh, and here’s the best part: you can vote as many times as you want! Remember, this isn’t a scientific measure, it’s all just for good fun, so get in there and show your support for your favorite player! Winners will be announced later on Friday afternoon, so stay tuned!

Meet the Nominees

Will Bostwick, Safety from May River

First up is Will Bostwick, a senior Safety who had an impressive performance against Hilton Head Island. Will racked up 11 tackles, including nine solo tackles, and even managed to block an extra point during the game despite a tough loss. His determination and defensive skills sure made an impact on the field!

Dayaun Brown, WR/DB from Whale Branch

Next on our list is Dayaun Brown, a senior who shines at both wide receiver and defensive back for Whale Branch. Dayaun had a thrilling outing against Lake Marion, where he scored a touchdown and contributed several big plays in their victory. His versatility and play-making ability were essential for his team!

Thaddeus Czarnecki, RB/LB from Hilton Head Island

Then we have Thaddeus Czarnecki, a sophomore powerhouse from Hilton Head Island. Thaddeus carried the ball nine times for 74 yards and made a significant defensive contribution with 11 tackles in his team’s win over May River. His energy and commitment both offensively and defensively are truly remarkable for someone his age!

Aedan McCarthy, QB from Bluffton

Our fourth nominee is none other than Aedan McCarthy, the junior quarterback for Bluffton. Aedan had a stellar game, completing 15 out of 20 passes for an impressive 282 yards and three touchdowns. He didn’t stop there; he also ran the ball nine times for an additional 56 yards! His leadership on the field has clearly been a driving force behind his team’s recent success.

Tony O’Banner, RB/LB from Thomas Heyward

Last but absolutely not least, we have Tony O’Banner, a junior running back and linebacker from Thomas Heyward. Tony put on a show with 14 carries for 230 yards and a touchdown during their win over John Paul II. His ability to burst through defenses is truly something special, and he also made six tackles to help his defense. A true two-way player!
