After moving to America with the help of an African-American missionary, Panu completed his undergraduate education at Tuskegee University. His dedication to education didn’t stop there; he went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Alabama and a doctorate from the University of Georgia. Starting his academic career as an assistant professor of chemistry at Kennesaw State University, Panu gradually transitioned to administration, where he took on various leadership roles before stepping into his current position at USCB.

Under Panu’s leadership, USCB has been on an ambitious growth trajectory, aiming to increase student enrollment and expand its degree offerings. Currently, the university proudly serves around 2,200 students, which is its highest enrollment figure to date. With campuses in Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head, USCB is the perfect hub for local students. Meaningful housing options are also available on the Beaufort campus, further enhancing its appeal.

As the university celebrates its 20th anniversary of granting four-year degrees, it is worth noting that USCB was the last institution in South Carolina permitted to offer such degrees.
