Tybee Island, GA – Stacye Jarrell, owner of Oceanfront Cottage Rentals, has sold the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel and Grand Ballroom for $2.795 million. The transaction was finalized on February 28, with Dean Danosh as the buyer, representing Orchard at the Chapel, LLC.
Danosh is known for operating the French-inspired wedding venue, Chateau 1800, in nearby Rincon, Georgia. His purchase comes after Jarrell played a key role in saving the chapel from demolition following its use as a filming location for the 2010 Miley Cyrus movie, The Last Song.
Described as having a whitewashed exterior and a rustic interior, the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel is ideal for couples with a love for nature, further enhancing Tybee Island’s appeal as a wedding destination. The town is noted for its romantic architecture, cobblestone streets, and characteristic Southern charm.
Jarrell believes that the chapel will contribute positively to local businesses by enhancing Tybee Island’s reputation as a top wedding locale. Since opening, the chapel has already hosted 12 weddings and a fundraiser for the Old Post Theater.
Looking ahead, the venue has 50-60 weddings scheduled for 2013, highlighting its growing popularity.
On August 12, the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel will host its grand opening, titled “Cut the Ribbon, Cut the Cake!“, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. This free event will feature local wedding vendors and celebrate the chapel’s new chapter.
Notably, David Tutera, a renowned wedding planner, has confirmed attendance, recognizing the chapel’s charm and character as perfect for weddings. Originally, Jarrell considered inviting Georgia’s First Lady, Sandra Deal, but opted for Tutera after receiving recommendations.
