In the charming city of Beaufort, a beloved tradition continues as St. Helena’s Church prepares to open its doors for the 45th year to celebrate Thanksgiving with a community service and dinner. Since 1979, this remarkable gathering has been a highlight for residents and visitors alike, offering a warm and festive atmosphere filled with cheer.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 28, because you won’t want to miss out on this wonderful occasion. The day will kick off with a special Thanksgiving service at 10:30 a.m. held at St. Helena’s Church, located at 505 Church Street. This uplifting service will be followed by a delicious Thanksgiving dinner starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall at 507 Newcastle Street, right in the heart of downtown Beaufort.
When it comes to food, the menu is nothing short of mouthwatering. Expect a classic turkey dinner featuring cornbread stuffing, green beans, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, and an assortment of delightful desserts. Last year, the incredible volunteers served up more than 600 meals, and they’re ready to do it all again this year!
Thanks to the hard work of over 150 volunteers, this special gathering is meticulously planned to ensure everyone feels welcome and festive. Whether it’s shaping turkeys, baking pies, or even delivering meals to those who can’t make it out, the community comes together to create something truly special.
This celebration isn’t just about the food—it’s about community! No matter if you’re a local resident or just visiting, everyone is invited to share in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Feel free to bring along your family, friends, neighbors, or even meet some new faces! While the meal is completely free, donations are welcome to help support this charitable effort.
For those who may not be able to join in person, don’t worry; home delivery is available! This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who cannot get out to still enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast. If you or someone you know is home-bound and would like a meal, be sure to place your order by contacting St. Helena’s church office at 843-522-1712. Just make sure you place your home-delivery requests before noon on Wednesday, November 27.
If you have any questions or need further details, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jai Dowell, the Director of Local Missions. You can contact him at 843-522-1712, Ext. 219, or shoot him an email at jdowell@sthelenas1712.org. They are more than happy to help you!
