Hilton Head’s Tanger Outlets Generously Supports Local Schools with $190K in Grants

In a move that is sure to bring joy to the community, Hilton Head is buzzing with excitement as Tanger Outlets announces the awarding of four grants through its 2024 TangerKids program. This initiative aims to support local schools, and this year, it is making a significant impact with a total of $190,000 granted to deserving educational programs.

Who Got the Grants?

It’s always delightful to see community-focused efforts being recognized, so let’s take a look at the lucky recipients of this year’s grants:

  • Bluffton Elementary: The school is set to embark on a fantastic initiative that will introduce students to a variety of home countries and cultures, promoting inclusivity and cultural appreciation among its younger learners.
  • Bluffton Middle School: Grant funds will go toward their Art Club’s crocheting project, encouraging creativity and skill development among students.
  • Hardeeville Elementary: The school received a boost for its Positive Behavioral Intervention System (PBIS) program, aimed at creating a positive and supportive educational environment.
  • Hampton Elementary School: The grant will provide new recess equipment, ensuring that kids have updated resources to enjoy their playtime.

The Importance of Supporting Education

As part of its mission, the marketing director at Tanger Outlets expressed how proud they are to support local families and invest in the success of students. Education is crucial for building strong futures, and by listening to the needs of local educators, Tanger is ensuring that funds are allocated to projects that can make a real impact in the community. Over the years, these grants have helped to create more inclusive and productive learning environments for children.

Tanger Outlets is making waves not only locally but across the country, donating over $190,000 through the TangerKids 2024 Grants program to enhance classroom investments. This year, more than 60 percent of the grant recipients from Tanger Hilton Head are Title 1 schools, underlining the commitment to supporting schools that serve low-income families.

A Long-Standing Commitment

The TangerKids program has a rich history, having been in operation for nearly 30 years and contributing over $3.7 million to educational initiatives. This annual program is open to public and private schools from pre-K to 12th grade, ensuring a wide reach across various educational levels. The 2024 application period ran from August 12 to October 18, inviting schools from Beaufort County and surrounding areas to submit proposals for funding.

Celebrating the Winners

To celebrate the grants, Tanger Hilton Head hosted a special event called TangerKids Day on January 31, where check presentations took place at both Hampton Elementary and Bluffton Middle School. Notably, May River Montessori School received a check for $2,500 to purchase iPads for its elementary program, enhancing technological resources available to students. Meanwhile, Hilton Head Preparatory School was awarded a $1,000 grant to acquire flip cameras for student projects, allowing for even greater creativity.

The introduction of iPads will significantly enhance individual research projects at May River Montessori, which has been managing with limited laptop access. With an array of applications designed specifically for Montessori learning, these new tools will undoubtedly improve educational experiences for students.

Wrapping Up

As Hilton Head continues to witness such generous support for education, it is heartening to see how organizations like Tanger Outlets remain deeply committed to enriching the lives of local students. These grants are more than just financial support; they represent the community’s dedication to fostering a brighter future for the next generation.
