Port Royal Police Uncovers Key Forensic Evidence in Long-Standing Theft Case

In Port Royal, the year-long mystery of a Summer 2023 car theft may finally have found its resolution. On Thursday, March 21, the Port Royal Police Department identified the suspected criminal. The identification, made possible through subsequent forensic analysis, paves the way for justice in a case that rattled the community and left a victim and the wider public in shock.

Suspect Identity and Charges Revealed

Following the painstaking examination of evidence gathered during the investigation, the Police have announced their prime suspect – Quantrell Hills, a 33-year-old resident of Beaufort. A news release on the following Friday detailed that warrants for Kidnapping and Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle have been issued against Hills. The Port Royal Police have invited anyone with information on Hills’ whereabouts to either call the non-emergency dispatch number or to file an anonymous online tip through Port Royal’s official site.

The Incident: Vehicle Theft and Kidnapping

On the evening of Thursday, July 13, Port Royal Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at 1370 Ribaut Road, near the Yummy restaurant. The police officers, initially assisting the Beaufort Police with a single-vehicle crash on Battery Creek Road, discovered that the two incidents were not separate, but the somber pieces of a larger, terrifying puzzle. The car involved in the accident was, indeed, the same car that had been reported stolen from the said location.

The scenario, as recounted by the helpless occupant, unfolds chillingly. He reported having been waiting in the backseat of a running vehicle while the driver had gone inside the store. A person suddenly entered the car and drove off, careening towards Battery Creek Road. Following the crash, the criminal got out of the car and fled the scene on foot. This led to a year-long investigation culminating recently in the suspect’s identification.

A Community Hopes for Justice

This announcement has spurred a sigh of relief among local residents as they hope for justice to prevail. With the suspect identified as Quantrell Hills, the community now eagerly awaits the day he faces the law for his alleged crimes. It is clear that this case has deeply affected the Port Royal community and will undoubtedly serve as a stern reminder of the enduring effectiveness of thorough police work.
