Suspect Identified in 2023 Port Royal Vehicle Theft

Quantrell Hills, a 33-year-old resident of Beaufort, has been identified as a suspect in a summer 2023 car theft following a return of forensic evidence in their investigation this past Thursday, March 21.

Details of the Incident

It was about 9:40 p.m., Thursday, July 13 of last year when Port Royal Police officers found themselves in a unusual situation. While assisting the Beaufort Police over a single-vehicle accident on Battery Creek Road, they were dispatched to a stolen vehicle report from an eatery at 1370 Ribaut Road. As details began to unravel, a shocking revelation came to light – the vehicle involved in the accident was the very same vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Adding to this string of alarming news was the disclosure of an adult occupant being in the vehicle when it was stolen. According to the victim, he was waiting in the backseat of the running car when an individual entered and drove off, heading toward Battery Creek Road.
