In an ongoing case, the Town of Port Royal Police are finally moving forward following a significant progression. Quantrell Hills, a 33-year-old resident of Beaufort, has been identified as a suspect in a summer 2023 car theft following a return of forensic evidence in their investigation this past Thursday, March 21.
It was about 9:40 p.m., Thursday, July 13 of last year when Port Royal Police officers found themselves in a unusual situation. While assisting the Beaufort Police over a single-vehicle accident on Battery Creek Road, they were dispatched to a stolen vehicle report from an eatery at 1370 Ribaut Road. As details began to unravel, a shocking revelation came to light – the vehicle involved in the accident was the very same vehicle that had been reported stolen.
Adding to this string of alarming news was the disclosure of an adult occupant being in the vehicle when it was stolen. According to the victim, he was waiting in the backseat of the running car when an individual entered and drove off, heading toward Battery Creek Road. After the vehicle crashed, the suspect fled on foot.
The Port Royal Police have obtained warrants for Kidnapping and Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle for Quantrell Hills, the identified suspect. The Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding Hills’ whereabouts to make contact either through their non-emergency dispatch number, 843-524-2777, or to file an anonymous online tip.
