June Events Kick Off Summer In South Carolina Lowcountry
The vibrant calendar of events in the Lowcountry this June offers locals and visitors a variety of ways to celebrate the onset of summer in Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties. The variety of community happenings ensures an eventful season for everyone.
Bluffton Gears Up For Independence Day Celebrations
The town of Bluffton is set to organize its 3rd Annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, June 30. Starting at 5 p.m., Martin Family and DuBois Parks will be alive with festivities, featuring live music by the Parris Island Marine Ensemble Brass Band, bounce houses, a rock wall, and a range of food trucks. At 9 p.m., spectators can marvel at the fireworks display by the scenic May River.
However, residents should note that the Bluffton Historic Preservation Review Committee (HPRC) meeting initially scheduled for Monday, June 24, has been canceled. The next meeting will take place on Monday, July 1 at 4 p.m.
Jasper County Events Focus On Community Engagement
In Jasper County, the community summer food service program, held in conjunction with the Jasper County School District, will be offering a free lunch from June 3 to June 27, available for pick-up at the Hardeeville and Ridgeland campuses.
The Richard Gray Recreation Center will play host to Hardeeville’s 4th off Main on June 29. The free event will feature live music, face painting, inflatables, food vendors and fireworks.
Additionally, a community event hosted by Families Against Gun Violence will be held on June 29, and will include guest speakers, children’s activities, and food for all attendees.
Hampton County Offers Diverse Entertainment
The Hampton Friends of the Arts have planned a summer filled with entertainment at the Palmetto Theater. From Country & Bluegrass Night to the popular musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” attendees are guaranteed a good time.
The Hampton County Watermelon Festival extends from June 15-22, offering a fun-filled week of community events, including the H.C. Watermelon Festival Fishing Contest, the quirky Pet Show, a Watermelon Eating Contest, and many more.
So whether it’s celebrating Independence Day in Bluffton, engaging with the community in Jasper, or immersing in arts and local talent in Hampton, the South Carolina Lowcountry promises an exciting start to the summer season.
