Savannah, Georgia, – HunterMaclean, a leading business law firm in Savannah and St. Simons Island, Georgia, recently elected Shawn A. Kachmar as its managing partner. Kachmar succeeds Brad Harmon, who has served on the firm’s management committee since 2012, and unanimously chosen as its managing partner in 2016.
In his new position, Kachmar will chair the HunterMaclean management committee, which is tasked with setting the firm’s long-term vision, guiding its strategy, and overseeing operations. Sarah Lamar and Tom Cullen complete the rest of the management team. Kachmar, having served on the management committee for multiple terms, is expected to smoothly transition the company to its new leadership phase.

He has served in various leadership roles within the firm, such as practice group leader and hiring partner. His leadership abilities and commitment to excellence are reflected in his multiple recognitions – including listings in Georgia Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite, The Best Lawyers in America, and Georgia Super Lawyers. In 2023, he received the Best Lawyers ‘Lawyer of the Year: Employment Law’ title and has been recognized by Chambers USA for his contributions to the sector.
In a statement, outgoing managing partner Brad Harmon had high praises for Kachmar, saying, “Shawn is an outstanding attorney and a strong leader with a vision of how the firm can continue to develop and grow.” Harmon continued, “he is dedicated to having success for his clients, his partners, and the firm as a whole. Shawn’s ability to innovate and his vast experience will be of great value to HunterMaclean.”
Beyond his professional commitments, Kachmar is actively involved in the community. He is a member of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School Board and serves on the boards of several organizations, many with an education focus. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Georgia class of 2013 and the Leadership Savannah class of 2006. During his spare time, he enjoys refereeing soccer matches.
Kachmar earned his B.S. in Public Policy, with high distinction, from Pennsylvania State University. He also attended Emory University School of Law, where he graduated with distinction.
Brad Harmon will continue working with HunterMaclean, practising in the areas of litigation, transportation, and logistics at both the Savannah and St. Simon Island offices.
