On Tuesday, May 7, the outreach of film and entertainment in the South Georgia region elevates a step further. The Savannah Regional Film Commission, the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA) have partnered to host an educational program. This initiative aims to educate entrepreneurs and small business owners about venturing into the world of film and TV productions as vendors.
The class is scheduled at Victory North Savannah, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., intending to introduce participants to the production ecosystem within the Savannah region. It underscores crucial details like effective networking, invoice submission, and paving the way to successfully earn from this flourishing industry.
This will be the third time the class is being conducted, each offering enhanced insights into the workings of TV productions. Significantly, it will provide an overview of the Savannah Regional Film Commission and its impact on TV productions in the area. Besides, it will guide the attendees on digitally enhancing their presence and tailoring their services to meet the requirements of local productions.
According to Becky Brownlee, the Area Director of the Savannah SBDC, participants will learn to register with the film office, a crucial step to success. The film office, a platform for all aspiring vendors, looks forward to expanding their services in the industry.
The event will feature experienced speakers from the industry. The dynamic list includes Walker Dalton, the Executive Director of the Savannah Regional Film Commission, who has over two decades of experience in production and photography. Joining him would be Nora Clark, a Production Supervisor, Katie Schuck, Assistant Director of the Savannah Regional Film Commission, and Renée Leventis, Manager of Operations of the Savannah Regional Film Commission. The panel discussion will also witness the presence of local and experienced film-friendly vendors.
