Savannah Philharmonic Announces New Board Chair and Board Members

In a major move, the Savannah Philharmonic, a prominent arts institution committed to delivering high-caliber concert performances and music education throughout the southeast, announced its new board chair and three board members recently.

Daphne Nash Becomes New Board Chair

Daphne Nash was named the Board Chair of Savannah Philharmonic as the organization gears up for the forthcoming 16th Season. Nash, who moved to Savannah in 2016 following a 23-year career in New York City, started her social engagement journey here as a volunteer. Besides her role with the Savannah Philharmonic, she also serves on the board of the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters. Moreover, she actively advocates for children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

New Board Members Introduced

The three new board members named were Scott Dole, Ben Hart, and Marti Sullivan.

Scott Dole

Dole, a real estate agent in Savannah, has a knack for assisting clients find the perfect residential or commercial property. Dole’s professional journey includes marketing stints with Stella McCartney and Ralph Lauren in New York City and Dallas. He also had significant roles in tech sales for Cisco, Tesla, and RedHat. An early love for music led him to play trumpet in a National Youth Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.

Ben Hart

Hart, the president and general manager of WJCL in Savannah, has been associated with Hearst-owned TV stations for over twenty years. He currently serves on the boards of Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club, United Way of the Coastal Empire, American Heart Association, and American Traditions Vocal Collection.

Marti Sullivan

Sullivan moved to Savannah in 2012 and has been deeply involved in the community ever since. She is a Trustee for the Telfair Museums, serves on the U.S. board of the Irish Georgian Society, and has worked on the design initiatives at the Ford Field & River Club. Before relocating to Savannah, Sullivan lived in Charleston, where she contributed significantly to the Spoleto Festival USA by serving on its board and chairing numerous fundraising events.

Significance of the New Appointments

Amy Williams, Executive Director of the organization, expressed excitement on the new appointments. She stated, “Our board members play such a vital role in the success of our organization. We are incredibly grateful to have these community leaders lend their expertise and leadership in supporting our mission.”
