Savannah Remembers a Bright Star: Jordan Ashley Bogans

Savannah, Georgia, has been enveloped in a wave of love and reflection following the untimely passing of Jordan Ashley Bogans, who left this world on September 5, 2024. Born on May 19, 2000, in Reston, Virginia, Jordan was the joyful light of her family, growing up alongside her twin sister Hannah and older brother William III (Tre). Her parents, William II and Karen Bogans, cherished her vibrant spirit that filled their home with joy and warmth.

A Childhood Full of Love and Laughter

From a young age, Jordan was seen as a sparkling star—creative, sensitive, and effortlessly graceful. Her love for singing was truly one of her gifts, something that not only entertained her family but also imbued their lives with happiness. Jordan and Hannah were inseparable, their bond creating a whirlwind of mischief, fun, and unforgettable adventures. Meanwhile, her relationship with Tre was special too, often spending time together watching movies and enjoying long walks.

Passions Flourished Over the Years

As Jordan blossomed, so did her love for cooking and beautifying both people and spaces around her. These passions were reflections of her nurturing and artistic spirit that left a mark on those who knew her. A natural-born leader, Jordan took her commitment to community service seriously, becoming actively involved in the Savannah Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.. There, she learned valuable lessons in leadership, serving as the secretary and impressively winning a local oratorical contest.

A Scholarly Pursuit of Excellence

Jordan graduated from Savannah Arts Academy in 2018, where she showcased her talents in chorus and participated in the school’s remarkable Junk2Funk fashion show for two consecutive years. She then continued her academic journey at Spelman College, majoring in International Studies with a concentration in Cultural Studies. She thrived during her time at Spelman, winning numerous awards and taking on leadership roles, such as president of the ACHIEVE More leadership group during her junior year.

Impressive Internships and Achievements

Jordan’s diligence didn’t go unnoticed; she made the Dean’s List for two years while being recognized with awards like Makeup Artist of the Year in 2019 and winning the 2018 Spelpreneur business pitch competition. Beyond classroom success, she completed prestigious internships with organizations such as Adobe, Invest Atlanta, and the Georgia Ports Authority, where she demonstrated her creativity and leadership skills.

A Celebration of Life

May 19, 2024, was particularly special for Jordan—as she not only celebrated her 24th birthday but also graduated from Spelman. Her Facebook post that day captured her spirit perfectly: “My birthday and graduation being on the same day? … The Taurus woman that I am helped me to work hard, and get EVERYTHING I wanted.”

A Lasting Impact

Jordan was known for her passion for empowering others, serving as a mentor and tutor, always lifting those around her. Her warm, encouraging spirit and infectious optimism will be forever felt in the hearts of her friends and family. She leaves behind a loving family, including her parents, sisters, brother, and many beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Honoring Jordan’s Memory

In lieu of flowers, Jordan’s family invites those wishing to honor her memory to consider a donation to the National Alliance of Mental Illness of Savannah (NAMI), which can be made through their website. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, followed by funeral services on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the same location at 11:00 AM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Campbell and Sons Funeral Home.

Though Jordan is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and determination continues to inspire everyone whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in every heart she warmed.
