Savannah’s Moon River Brewing Closes its Doors After Serving For a Quarter Century
Momentous Farewell to the City’s Original Brew Pub
SAVANNAH – The curtains have fallen on Savannah’s original brew pub, as Moon River Brewing is set to close its doors for good on Sunday. Making the announcement on their social media page, the company confirmed the day as their last date of operation. Sporting a dazzling business run of over 25 years in Savannah, the brewing establishment recently commemorated their silver anniversary. While it might be their last day, the loyal patrons of the brew pub were resolved to make it the most memorable.
“We began serving our patrons on April 10th, 1999,” recalled John Pinkerton, the owner of Moon River Brewing Company, adding, “That’s a full 25 years of Moon River brewing beer and serving food to the wonderful people of downtown Savannah. We have been a community within a community, and I would like to express sincere gratitude for the years of patronage and support.”
A Community Icon Bids Goodbye
Per the official Moon River Brewing website, the brewery operates from one of Savannah’s oldest, most historic, and certifiably haunted buildings. This unique selling point was one of the many factors patrons have expressed their adoration for.
“It hurts deeply to lose such a cherished local establishment that has successfully cultivated a dedicated following among both locals and tourists. It’s truly saddening to witness them shutting their doors eternally,” articulated Frank Roper, a constant frequenter of Moon River.
A patrons’ favourite, Avery Underwood, said, “Moon River was one of the first spots we found our hearts at and we’ve been retreating to it ever since. It’s heartbreaking to see it close.”
Moon River Brewing is a pet-friendly, kid-friendly, and beer-friendly institution. “Regardless of whether it’s hot or cold, rain or shine, it’s always beer-drinking weather here at Moon River,” mentioned Pinkerton.
