Savannah Gears Up for TEDxSavannah 2024

Event Scheduled for May 16

Residents of Savannah, Georgia are expected to come together on May 16 for TEDxSavannah 2024 to rally around ideas worth spreading. The theme for this year’s TEDx conference? Convergence.

Commitment to Sharing Ideas

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) talks are a worldwide phenomenon, thanks to their focus on featuring compelling and transformative ideas. It’s an initiative that has found its regional voice in over 170 countries through TEDx events, independently organized local versions of the main TED event. Savannah joined this global initiative in 2010, but suffered a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, 2024 marks both the event’s triumphant third year since the hiatus, and the 13th anniversary of its inception.

The TEDxSavannah organizing committee is eagerly anticipating the event, looking forward to the potential positive impact the shared ideas could have on local communities. Attendees are set for a day of thought-provoking discussions on overcoming local issues through unity and innovation, sparked by the theme of convergence.

Honoring Diverse Perspectives

This year’s speaker line-up is as varied as the ideas they’ll be sharing. The roster includes not only local thought leaders but also figures of national and global renown. Each one of them adding unique perspectives capable of resonating with and inspiring the audience. With over 150 applications received, only 12 notable community leaders were chosen to take the stage, promising a rich and diverse exchange of inspiring and impactful ideas.

One of the chosen speakers, Lillian Grant-Baptiste, founder of Baobab Speaks Consulting Group and a renowned Gullah Geechee storyteller, spoke about her upcoming presentation. Her talk will center around cultural convergence in the local community, with a specific focus on Gullah Geechee culture. Grant-Baptiste encourages public participation in TEDxSavannah 2024, promising an opportunity for community-building and shared learning.

The Venue and the Details

On May 16, TEDxSavannah will commence at 1 p.m. and continue till 5 p.m. at the Fine Arts Auditorium on Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus. Building Communities, One Idea at a Time

This event highlights the role of intellectual conversation in fostering unity and community growth.
