Hey there, football fans in our lovely city! Can you feel the excitement in the air? As we dive deeper into the 2024 high school football season, it’s time for us to celebrate the amazing talent on the field. Each week, we get to witness incredible performances from our local athletes, and now it’s your turn to shine a spotlight on your favorites! The Island Packet is hosting a poll for the high school football Player of the Week, featuring some outstanding nominees from Week 4 of the season. Ready to cast your ballots?

Meet the Nominees

This week’s nominees are nothing short of impressive! Here’s a quick rundown of the players vying for your vote:

  • Andrew Johnson, RB, May River: This junior running back had a fantastic game, carrying the ball 22 times for a whopping 131 yards and three touchdowns in a thrilling win over Brookland-Cayce. Talk about a game-changer!
  • Bryant Jolley, RB, John Paul II: Our senior standout rushed for 156 yards on 21 carries and notched a touchdown in a tough battle against Hilton Head Christian. Even though his team fell short, his skills shined bright!
  • Aedan McCarthy, QB, Bluffton: This junior QB was on fire during the game, completing 14 out of 30 passes for a stunning 303 yards and three touchdowns. He also showcased his agility, rushing for 43 yards and another touchdown in a tight loss to Hampton County.
  • Reid McCollum, QB, Hilton Head Christian: What a performance from this junior! He went 15-of-22 for 255 yards and four touchdowns, while also carrying the ball 15 times for 131 yards and two scores. His incredible dual-threat ability led his team to victory over John Paul II!
  • Jace Paulk, WR/S, Beaufort Academy: This junior didn’t just shine on offense with two catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, but he also made a mark on defense with six tackles and an interception, helping secure a win against Lee Academy.
