On Hilton Head Island, you’ll find beach parks, community parks, recreational parks, public docks, and public boat ramps. If you’re riding across the island, make sure to stop at one of the numerous parks along the route! On Hilton Head, there are a variety of parks to choose from, including beach parks with playgrounds, pavilions, and sand showers, as well as elegant parks with public art and reflecting pools. Hiking or trekking through Hilton Head Island’s magnificent nature trails and coastal regions at your own speed is one of the greatest ways to see the island’s natural splendor. As you travel through the Lowcountry, you’ll pass through creeks, lagoons, and rivers, taking in the breathtaking beauty. Check out some of the island’s parks, whether you’re looking for a fun excursion with the kids or a quiet break in the shade!

Here’s a list of parks, you would like to visit with your family:

Fish Haul Creek Park – 224 Beach City Road

Beautiful, picturesque vistas and great walking routes may be found in this park. Mitchelville Freedom Park, a preservation campaign of the United States’ first self-governed freedman’s village, is located inside Fish Haul Creek. Relax on one of the numerous seats beneath the ancient trees and learn about Mitcheleville’s history and future plans for the park. The dock and watching the crabs scurry around the salt marsh will be a hit with the kids.

Burkes Beach Park

Burke’s Beach, at 60 Burkes Beach Road, is a pleasant peaceful beach with metered parking and a lengthy stretch of beach. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, this beach is dog-friendly before 10:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. If you do bring your dog, the Chaplin Community Park, which features the Best Friends Dog Park, is just a short walk away.

Mitchelville Beach Park

If you’re looking for a more secluded beach, go to Mitchelville Beach Park, which is situated at 124 Mitchelville Road. Although there is parking in the park for this beach, be prepared for a long walk to the beach. There are public bathrooms nearby. This is a fairly large beach during low tide, with plenty of room to set up for a whole day of beach fun! Excellent beach for dogs, shore fishing, and clamming. 

Driessen Beach Park

Driessen Beach, situated at 64 Bradley Beach Road, is a fun-filled day of surf, sand, and sun for the whole family! There are lots of metered parking spaces available, as well as handicapped beach access with boardwalk, grills, outdoor showers, bathrooms, picnic pavilion, playground, seasonal beach rentals, and seasonal lifeguards. The picnic pavilion is a nice place to cool off in the middle of the day, and the playground is nearby if the kids need a break! The boardwalk leading to the beach is lovely, and it’s a terrific area to click photos.  

Folly Field Beach Park

Folly Field Beach Park, at 55 Starfish Drive, is a lovely tiny shore with a lovely boardwalk that leads to the beach. Metered parking, handicap beach matting, outdoor showers, bathrooms, seasonal beach rentals, and seasonal lifeguards are all available. This beach is a surfers’ favorite! Because it is close to hotels and tourist attractions, this beach might get congested at times. 

Greens Shell Park – 99 Squire Pope Road

This is one of the island’s smallest parks, yet it has a lot to offer. Two playgrounds, a covered picnic area, a basketball hoop, an ancient historic cemetery, and a large observation platform with an actual Native American Shell Ring are all available to enjoy the breathtaking views.
