Beaufort County Commences 'Operation Green Light' to Honor Veterans

Beaufort County Shines a Green Light for Veterans

Hey there, Beaufort! As we dive into November, a heartfelt initiative is lighting up our community in a wonderful way—literally! This year, Beaufort County Veterans Affairs is taking part in the Operation Green Light for Veterans, a special campaign organized in collaboration with the National Association of Counties (NACO). This month, our government buildings—like the Administration Building, the Arthur Horne Building, and the County Courthouse—are glowing in green to honor the brave men and women who have served our country.

A Month to Remember

November is shaping up to be a month of appreciation! From the 4th to the 11th, this green light campaign is encouraging not just government buildings but the entire Beaufort community to participate! You can join in by proudly shining a green light at your homes or businesses. It’s a great way to express solidarity with our veterans and let them know they are appreciated in a big way.

“We encourage the entire Beaufort County community to join in on this initiative,” says Caroline Fermin, the Director of Beaufort County Veterans Affairs. “Shining a green light shows our military community that they are acknowledged, valued, and supported.” Isn’t that a lovely sentiment? It’s about coming together to create a wave of positivity and recognition for those who’ve put their lives on the line for our freedom.

About Operation Green Light

The initiative, which has seen participation from over 300 counties in 2023 alone, aims to raise awareness about the unique challenges veterans face and the resources available for them and their families. According to the NACO’s website, county governments have a rich history of serving veterans, and through joint efforts with federal, state, and local partners, they ensure these heroes have access to the support they need to thrive. Each illumination of green represents a strong and lasting commitment to support our veterans every day of the year!

Why Green?

You might be wondering why green is the chosen color. Well, green represents a beacon of hope and an unwavering commitment to veterans and their families. So, when you light that green bulb outside, you’re sending a message to those who’ve served: “We see you. We are here for you.” Such a simple act can spread a powerful message of gratitude and support.

Spread the Word!

Let’s make sure this beautiful initiative gets the spotlight it deserves! Spread the word and share the energy of Operation Green Light with your friends and neighbors. You may even inspire others to join the movement! Imagine driving through Beaufort and seeing all the green lights glimmering, a true testament to our community’s respect and appreciation for our veterans.

Join the Celebration!

As we celebrate our heroes this month, don’t forget to mark your calendars! Whether you’re switching on a green light or simply sharing your appreciation for veterans, every little bit makes a difference! To all of our veterans in Beaufort County and across the nation, thank you for your service. You are an integral part of our community, and we are proud to stand with you!

Please light up your world with kindness this November and show our veterans the support they truly deserve!
