As autumn rolls around, Savannah is gearing up for its fourth annual Oktoberfest celebration at the vibrant Plant Riverside District. This beloved event will take place over three Saturdays: October 5, October 12, and October 19, each full of fun activities and a warm community atmosphere along Savannah’s stunning riverfront at 400 W. River St..
This year, the Oktoberfest festivities promise more excitement than ever! Brigitte VanBaelen, the Director of Marketing, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “We are excited about hosting our fourth annual Oktoberfest at Plant Riverside District. We invite everyone to join us to enjoy incredible live music, delightful German food and beer, and family-friendly fun and games.”
Mark your calendars because October 5 will kick off with the inaugural 2024 Savannah All Breeds Dog Races. In response to popular demand from local dog owners, this event is open to all dogs not categorized as Wiener Dogs (dachshunds and dachshund mixes) and features exciting weight classes for pups up to 30 pounds. If you’re a fan of fast furry friends, you won’t want to miss this!
Following the All Breeds Dog Races, the highly anticipated 2024 Savannah Wiener Dog Races will be held on October 12. It’s a win-win for both participants and the community!
Whether you’re a proud dog owner or just a spectator looking for a good time, all are welcome to join the races. In addition to the excitement of seeing who will take home the trophy for speed, there will be other fun contests like best dressed dog and best dressed dog owner. It’s a great way to enjoy the day with your furry friends!
Each Saturday during Oktoberfest, attendees can enjoy a variety of free German-themed activities. Get ready for live music featuring the fantastic polka band The Rhinelanders, exciting games such as Keg Bowling and Stein Holding contests, and the charming Strudel Stroll!
