Beaufort, SC is buzzing with shoppers and food lovers alike as the new Beaufort Station Shopping Center gradually opens its doors to the community. With many retail stores already welcoming customers, everyone is eagerly asking the big question: When will the food options show up? The anticipation has been palpable around town as local gossips and foodies wait for the likes of Panda Express and Surcheros Fresh Mex to finally open up their kitchens!
The excitement kicked off on October 15th when Chicken Salad Chick opened its doors, ready to serve up its delicious varieties of chicken salad. The cozy eatery has received a warm welcome, but residents are still looking forward to more delicious choices at the shopping center.
Initially, Surcheros, the popular Georgia-based Tex-Mex chain, announced plans to open its first South Carolina location on November 19th. However, we’ve recently learned that this date has been pushed back significantly. An update from their marketing firm shared the less-than-ideal news: the restaurant’s opening is now delayed all the way until sometime in 2025 due to construction setbacks. It’s disappointing for sure, but good things come to those who wait!
For those not in the know, Surcheros is famous for its fresh, customizable Mexican-inspired menu. With burritos, bowls, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, salads, and more, the menu captures the essence of vibrant Mexican cuisine. The restaurant has over 30 locations in both Florida and Georgia, and it’s become a favorite for fans of fresh flavors.
As part of a huge expansion plan, the chain is gearing up to open 100 new restaurants over the next five years, with an aim for 15 to 20 of those locations by the end of 2025. It’s exciting to think of what Surcheros will bring to Beaufort when they finally open their doors!
Meanwhile, the Beaufort Station Shopping Center is bustling with activity as it includes a variety of retail giants. Some of the tenants that have already flung their doors wide open include PetSmart, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Five Below, and Rack Room Shoes. Not to mention, shoppers can browse at other favorites like Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, Ulta Beauty, and Old Navy. The shopping center itself spans an impressive 209,250 square feet and is positioned on the corner of Robert Smalls Parkway and Paris Island Gateway.
This project has been a long-awaited development for Beaufort. Developers have emphasized that Beaufort is a “beautiful community that is growing but underserved in retail.” Jeff Surrency, the executive vice president of development at The Morgan Companies, expressed excitement about what this new shopping center means for the residents. Trey Morgan, President of The Morgan Companies, summarized the sentiment perfectly: “We continue to attract high-quality tenants for this project, and we couldn’t be more excited. This is not only a testament to great real estate but a growing, vibrant community as well.”
While we wait for Surcheros and Panda Express to join the exciting lineup, it’s clear that Beaufort Station is adding a fresh vibe to the area. So, gather your friends and family and head over to explore the new shops already open! We are looking forward to the day when we can indulge in some hearty burritos or quick Chinese takeout! Until then, happy shopping, Beaufort!
