Beaufort Native Megan Morris Unanimously Voted as New President of Regional Chamber of Commerce

Regional Chamber of Commerce Names Beaufort Native Megan Morris as President

Beaufort, a small picturesque city in South Carolina, recently saw Megan Morris, a well-known native, being selected as the president of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. This decision was made through a unanimous vote cast by the Board of Directors on July 18th, 2024.

Morris had been acting as the interim president since November 2023 following the resignation of former president Ian Scott, who left the job to pursue a career opportunity in North Carolina.

Morris’s Dedication to Beaufort

In response to the appointment, 2024 Chair, Nick Messenburg, stated, “The Board believes Megan has the ambition and energy to move the chamber to the next level of service for our members. She is committed to building a team of professionals, internally and externally, to leading and to strengthening the partnership between local, state, and national government officials.”

His belief in Morris stems from her commitment to Beaufort and her passion to improve the community. “There are many opportunities ahead for Beaufort, and the Chamber will be at the leadership table to be a part of the solutions,” Messenburg added.

Megan Morris joined the Chamber back in August 2021, taking on the role of Director of Member Services. Following this, she received a promotion to vice president before finally stepping into the president’s role. As president, her duties now span across overseeing all operations of the Chamber and reporting directly to the Board of Directors through the annually elected Chair.

A Vision for the Future

The Chamber professionals provide a strategic direction and management plan for the organization’s programs and personnel. Morris’s role as president involves providing vision to these initiatives while leading the team both internally and externally.

When asked about her plans, Morris said, “I believe the skill sets I bring to the Chamber will be beneficial as we move forward on the advocacy front at the local, regional state, and national levels.” Emphasizing her connection to Beaufort, she added, “I decided several years ago that working to improve the community where I grew up was going to be a career goal for me. Beaufort is where I want to leave a positive legacy during my tenure as president.”

With the fresh leadership of Beaufort native Megan Morris, the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce looks poised for success and growth. The city can look forward to seeing strategic and impactful initiatives that will greatly benefit the local community.
