BEAUFORT, August 16 – Mandy Parsons, a seasoned executive with over 22 years of nonprofit leadership experience, has been named the new President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry. This news was announced by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry, positioning the organization for a bold new chapter in its service to young people in the region.
Parsons brings a wealth of experience and achievements to her new role. She recently served as interim CEO, acting COO, and acting CFO at the United Way of the Coastal Empire. During her tenure at United Way, she led strategic planning initiatives, streamlined operational processes, and diversified revenue streams. This greatly improved the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization. Parsons’ leadership style rests on collaboration and strong relationship-building skills- this has helped her align organization’s mission to community expectations and enhance organizational image.
Prior to her role at United Way, Parsons served as a Senior Manager and Area Director for the American Cancer Society in Savannah, and led development efforts for a private school in Kentucky. Throughout her career, she has been recognised for her ability to drive organizational growth, enhance organizational culture, and implement transformative changes.
Mollie Sandman, Vice President of the Lowcountry Board of Directors expressed her excitement on welcoming Parsons on board. “Mandy has a wealth of experience and a passion for the organization that will help us reach more kids and teens, particularly those that need us the most. There’s a lot of great work to be done and we believe she’s up to the task!” she said.
Parsons also remarked on her excitement about her new role. Her vision for the Boys & Girls Club of the Lowcountry includes expanding service to more children who need them the most, and enhancing organizational sustainability and cohesiveness across the Lowcountry.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Parsons is active in community service. She recently joined the Savannah Book Festival board, in line with her reading hobby. Parsons enjoys spending time with family at the beach, watching Kentucky basketball, and relaxing in the yard with her dog.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry, which received its national charter from the Boys and Girls Club of America in 1986, has been transforming the lives of the area’s youth by providing safe, inclusive environments where they can thrive. With a focus on academic success, career preparedness, healthy lifestyles, and good citizenry, the organization currently operates in 10 locations across Beaufort and Jasper counties, serving over 1,200 young people.
This new appointment of Parsons is indicative of a promising future for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry, consolidating its commitment to its mission: enabling all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
