Beaufort, SC is buzzing with excitement as the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) chapter AM of Beaufort/Bluffton gears up for a fantastic event this October. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.,
the delightful atmosphere of 2 Habersham Park will come alive with the Lowcountry Writers’ Symposium. This event promises to bring together local talented authors, book enthusiasts, and supporters of education for a delightful afternoon of inspiration and community engagement.
Moderated by the talented Jonathan Haupt, who serves as the Director of the Pat Conroy Literary Center, this inaugural symposium is set to feature a trio of esteemed authors, each bringing their unique flair to the event:
Attendees can look forward to a compelling panel discussion with the authors, question-and-answer sessions, and opportunities to connect during meet-and-greet moments, not to mention book signings where readers can grab a copy of their favorite author’s work.
For just $50, your ticket not only secures your spot for this enriching experience but also supports the wonderful mission of P.E.O. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the P.E.O. educational fund, which is dedicated to providing scholarships, grants, and financial support to women pursuing their educational goals.
And it gets even better! Guests will be treated to complimentary wine and a delightful spread of charcuterie to enjoy throughout the event. It’s the perfect way to unwind while supporting an important cause.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded back in 1869, is a women’s organization committed to fostering educational opportunities for women. They strive to uplift and empower women through scholarships, grants, and even the stewardship of Cottey College, a private liberal arts institution. The mission of P.E.O. is clear: to celebrate the advancement of women and provide both financial and moral support to help them reach their full potential.
Local chapter AM has been actively involved in the community, providing scholarships to local high school women and sponsoring international female students studying in South Carolina. By attending the symposium, participants are contributing to this noble mission and making a difference in the lives of many young women!
If you’re interested in being a part of this grand afternoon of literature, community connection, and charitable giving, you can secure your tickets by reaching out to Leslie Van Buskirk via email at leslievbee@gmail.com.
So grab your calendars and mark down October 16, 2024! You won’t want to miss the Lowcountry Writers’ Symposium in Beaufort, where literature meets philanthropy. Join your neighbors and fellow literary lovers for a day filled with inspiration and support for women’s education!
