United Way of the Coastal Empire Partners with Georgia Legal Services Program to Provide Free Legal Advice in Bryan County

The United Way of the Coastal Empire (UWCE) has announced a partnership with the Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) in a mission of assistance for Bryan County residents. The collaboration aims to provide an accessible and complimentary legal clinic on May 2, 2024, to address a variety of civil legal problems.

Ask A Lawyer Day

The event, termed “Ask A Lawyer Day,” will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bryan County United Way/Family Connections Building, stationed at 9611 Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill. The location is directly behind the city library. Experienced attorneys hailing from the Georgia Legal Services Program’s Savannah Regional office will be present to provide advice on subjects such as domestic violence, housing, and landlord-tenant issues. They will also counsel individuals on SNAP/Food Stamps, Medicaid, wills/estates, unemployment, custody/guardianship, and other critical matters.

Free Services for Qualifying Individuals

The complimentary advice and services offered through the clinic, or through other GLSP services, come without any charge. Consequently, qualified individuals will have the opportunity to meet and consult with the present attorneys from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The intent is to gather necessary information and advice concerning these issues or other legal inquiries. This initiative is open for all low-income individuals and eligible seniors residing in Bryan County.

Appointments and Walk-ins

While appointments are recommended to ensure the dedicated attention of the attorneys, walk-ups will also be welcomed. To make an appointment, individuals are advised to call the United Way Bryan County office at 912-651-7752. For more details about this initiative and the Georgia Legal Services Program, individuals can visit www.glsp.org.

This partnership and initiative is part of UWCE and GLSP’s commitment to serving the impoverished community and ensuring easy access to legal advice. Bryan County residents will undoubtedly benefit from this direct outreach program.
