United Way of the Coastal Empire has recently announced the appointment of Kimberly Waller as the organization’s new President and CEO. This announcement follows exhaustive searches for right candidate. Waller is expected to assume office effective June 3, 2024.
Prior to this appointment, Waller served as a Presidential Appointee under the Biden Administration where she led precise initiatives to support children, youth, families, and communities under the aegis of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
In addition, she has an incredible track record of leading critical policy initiatives as an attorney for a nonprofit legal aid group, focused on ensuring that every child has access to stable family, good health, and quality education. Her tenure as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Mayor of the District of Columbia on the city’s Interagency Council on Homelessness has also contributed significantly to her multicultural experiences.
Waller’s extensive career spanning various roles started in the United States Senate where she advised on health and human services initiatives. She has a long history of dedicating her work towards community improvement and creating sustainable change within communities.
She holds a law degree and a bachelor’s degree in social work, both from the University of Pittsburgh. Furthermore, in her past roles, she has witnessed the impressive work of United Way of the Coastal Empire at first hand, which has strengthened her belief that more can be achieved when we work together. She is looking forward to working with the Savannah community in order to uphold United Way’s commitment to improve lives by uniting the caring power of communities.
Ken Rabitsch, the chair of United Way of the Coastal Empire Board of Directors, warmly welcomed Waller and expressed high hopes for her leadership. “Kimberly Waller is an exceptional leader whose career has been dedicated to community improvement and the advancement of social and economic well-being,” says Rabitsch. “Her values, vision, and vast experience align seamlessly with our organization’s mission, and we are confident that she will keep the momentum going.”
Until the official commencement of Waller’s role, the organization’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer, Mandy Parsons will continue to serve as the Interim President and CEO.
