According to Hyundai spokesperson Bianca Johnson, around 200,000 of those EVs—about 70%—will hit the rails for at least 500 miles before reaching their final destinations.

To accommodate this need, Hyundai took proactive steps this year by seeking modifications to a federal environmental permit to install an additional line of track right at the site. The Georgia Department of Economic Development detailed in a request to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers how essential this rail siding will be for managing the expected surge in rail cargo.

They are set to retire 273 older engines this year while acquiring nearly 200 cleaner engines. Since 2020, the company has impressively decreased greenhouse gas emissions by 15% and aims for a 42% reduction by 2035.
