On June 6, Hospice Care of the Lowcountry remembered loved ones who have passed away with a dedicated event titled “A Time to Remember.” Hosted in the picturesque Coastal Discovery Museum in Hilton Head, the annual event offers a solemn yet uplifting space to honor and remember loved ones who are no longer with us.
The event, which was free to the public, impressed upon attendees the importance of reflection, remembrance, and life celebration. The large turnout underscored the community’s need for a shared space of reflection and healing in these challenging times.
The event was enriched by the contribution of the Nurses Honor Guard of South Carolina who made a heartfelt presentation. Comprising both retired and active nurses, the Guard not only participates in solemn funeral ceremonies for their colleagues but also supports hospice events.
The combined efforts of the hospice and the Nurses Guard reinforced the community spirit, reassuring attendees of the strength and support found in shared experiences.
This year’s event included a unique interactive feature. Attendees were invited to pen messages on oyster shells in remembrance of their lost loved ones. To ensure this tribute has a lasting presence, Hospice will use these inscribed shells to create artwork to be displayed in their office. This serves as a resonant reminder of the lives that have been honored and remembered.
Aside from Reflection and remembrance, “A Time to Remember” event also highlighted beneficial resources available for attendees. A comprehensive range of support including grief counselors, support groups, and other community resources was made available.
This holistic approach underlines Hospice Care of the Lowcountry’s commitment in providing comprehensive support to those navigating the labyrinth of loss.
Notably, the night’s success was partly attributed to the sponsorship by Keith Funeral and Cremation Services. Their patronage is a testament to the community’s intertwined efforts to honor and remember loved ones in a compassionate and respectful manner.
