Spread Cheer in the Lowcountry: Embrace Holiday Giving This Season

Spread Cheer in the Lowcountry this Holiday Season

The holiday season is officially upon us in the picturesque Lowcountry, and as we deck the halls and sip hot cocoa, it’s also the perfect time to think about giving back. Whether you’re interested in putting together a toy drive, serving meals, or simply providing some warm company to those in need, there are plenty of opportunities to spread joy and make a real difference!

Operation Holiday Heroes

One of the most exciting initiatives this year is the Operation Holiday Heroes project, in partnership with local nonprofits like the United Way of the Lowcountry, Toys for Tots, and more. This heartwarming initiative aims to ensure that every child and family in Beaufort and Jasper Counties has toys to unwrap and food on the table this Christmas. Interested in donating? You can drop off toys at the United Way office located at 1277 Ribaut Road or check out the Toys for Tots boxes scattered throughout the region! For more details, make sure to hop over to the United Way’s Holiday Heroes page.

Bluffton Self Help Holiday Cheer

Need to ease the holiday stress? Bluffton Self Help has got your back! They are offering everything from clothing to gifts and have even set up a Holiday Toy Shop. This catchment opens on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays until 4 p.m. at 39 Sheridan Park Circle Suite 10. Don’t forget to check out their website for more ways to get involved!

Santa’s Shop & Christmas Dinner by Deep Well Project

The Deep Well Project is adding a sprinkle of magic to the holiday season with their Santa’s Shop and a delightful Christmas Dinner! Families can score some incredible new toys, clothes, and crafts after registering via phone starting on November 1. Cash in on some joy from December 10-17 when the shop opens! They’re also preparing special dinners for families in need, so if you want to lend a hand, head over to their volunteer page for all the scoop!

Helping Hands for Seniors

The Lowcountry Volunteer Connections is also getting proactive this season by putting together care packages for elderly and disabled folks in Jasper and Hampton Counties. With their Helping Hand Center, they deliver goodies right to local senior centers and homes. They are in need of a variety of items, so if you want to help, swing by their website!

Meals on Wheels and Furry Friends

To tackle loneliness, Lowcountry Volunteer Connections is teaming up with Meals on Wheels in a special initiative focused on helping elderly clients with pet food. If you’ve got a soft spot for furry friends, you’re in great company! Volunteers are essential for planning this program, so consider signing up. Plus, pet food donations can be dropped off at 75 Capital Drive!

Bluffton Community Soup Kitchen

Another wonderful opportunity to lend your hand is with the Bluffton Community Soup Kitchen. They are on the lookout for volunteers to prepare, deliver, and serve meals to those in need. If you’re available Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Wednesdays until 2 p.m., make sure to swing by 25 Boundary Street and get involved!

Community Christmas Dinner at Panini’s and Hemingway’s Bistro

On Christmas Day, don’t miss out on the Orphans & Strays Christmas Dinner hosted by both Panini’s and Hemingway’s Bistro! It’s an open invitation starting at 2 p.m., where both establishments provide scrumptious main courses and sides. It’s a potluck style, so feel free to bring along a dish to share!

Beaufort County First Responder Food Drive

Lastly, remember that our local heroes at Beaufort County are running a food drive until December 13! They’re collecting non-perishable items such as canned goods and pasta to stock food bank shelves. So, if you’re up for it, drop off your donations at a nearby location listed on the local emergency services page, and spread the love this season!

This holiday season, let’s wrap up our community in warmth and generosity. With so many ways to contribute, you have the perfect chance to make a difference and join your neighbors in celebrating this incredible time of year!
