Hilton Head Island Student Earns National Recognition

Hilton Head Island, S.C. – A remarkable achievement has come to light as a student from Hilton Head Christian Academy (HHCA) has been recognized as one of the **top 1% of high school seniors** in the United States. Christopher Nguyen, a member of the Class of 2025, has been named a **National Merit Semifinalist** in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program.

What Does This Mean?

This recognition places Nguyen in an elite group, as he now moves forward to compete for the title of **National Merit Finalist** and potentially win one of the **National Merit Scholarships**, which will be awarded in the spring of 2025. In total, nearly **$26 million** in scholarships will be distributed to outstanding students throughout the country.

Academic Excellence and Extracurricular Involvement

Nguyen’s strong academic record is impressive, featuring a wide range of **honors, dual enrollment, and AP courses**. He challenges even the most knowledgeable teachers with questions that make them learn their subject better than they already know it.”

Community Service and Leadership

Beyond academics, Nguyen has also made significant contributions to the community. He has logged over **150 hours of service** during the past school year and has been recognized with the **Mayor’s Volunteer Service Award** for three consecutive years.
