Young Achievers from Five Local High Schools

The scholars hail from five different high schools, marking the first time a student from a Jasper County Public School has earned the honor. The students were selected based on their academic excellence, dedication to community service, and financial need underlined by poignant and earnest essays written by them.

Scholarship Breakdown

Heritage Classic Foundation has displayed a diverse array of scholarship opportunities for these distinguished students. Of the eleven beneficiaries, six are set to receive a $16,000 scholarship, spread evenly over the next four years. Further, four additional scholarships carry a $20,000 opportunity and pay homage to the late Scholar Committee chairmen John Zimmerman and Mike Malanick, as well as the late Scholar Committee member Charlie Brown.

The Tartan Club and the Kirby Scholarship

The Tartan Club Scholarship celebrates the generosity and community support from the club’s members, offering a $20,000 grant for one student’s educational path. Crafted by Heritage Classic Foundation, the Tartan Club comprises individuals from around the community, rallying behind the common goal of uplifting young students through education grants.

Alongside these, the Kirby Scholarship is a new feature in the awards. This $4,000 scholar award, valid for one academic session, was created as a living legacy for past Scholar Committee chairman Ward Kirby. The award will be presented annually in the coming years.

Expansion of Scholar Aids

Apart from these eleven scholarships, the Heritage Classic Foundation extends its support by sponsoring four $2,500 annual scholarships to the University of South Carolina Beaufort and two $1,500 annual scholarships for students enrolling at the Technical College of the Lowcountry.
