Hardeeville Marks Historic Groundbreaking for South Atlantic Logistics Terminal Set to Bring Jobs and Economic Growth

Exciting Developments in Hardeeville!

Hardeeville is buzzing with excitement after a groundbreaking ceremony held on November 14, marking the beginning of a huge new economic development site! This 880-acre project, known as the South Atlantic Logistics Terminal (SALT), is set to bring a world of opportunities to the local community.

A Big Move by North Point Development and CrossHarbor Capital Partners

The talented folks at North Point Development, along with their partners at CrossHarbor Capital Partners, are the masterminds behind this ambitious project. North Point Development, with offices in Savannah, Charleston, and Raleigh, specializes in real estate and development solutions. Meanwhile, their partners from Boston, CrossHarbor Capital, have been making waves in the real estate investment world for over 30 years!

So, what’s in store for Hardeeville? Well, the site is expected to offer up to six million square feet of warehouse and industrial space! The first phase of construction alone represents a significant $200 million investment and promises to create over 550 jobs at full buildout, according to the SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance.

Location, Location, Location!

You might be wondering where this splendid site will be. SALT is ideally positioned right along I-95 and I-17, providing speedy access to the entire Eastern Seaboard—and it’s just 15 minutes from the bustling Port of Savannah!

This prime location, along with the continued growth at the Georgia Port Authority and a thriving labor market, is expected to act as a catalyst for future growth in the region. Just imagine the possibilities! Hardeeville Mayor Harry Williams expressed his excitement, stating that the new logistics terminal will positively transform the landscape of Highway 17 in Jasper County, leading hundreds of residents on a new road to success.

Community Benefits Galore

Mayor Williams highlighted that this critical corridor—running parallel to I-95—is not just about jobs; it’s also about enhancing the quality of life for the community. “This will be a valuable source of new funding for our schools,” he stated, emphasizing the project’s potential to attract top-notch teachers to the area.

Local construction company JH Hiers has been chosen for the master infrastructure work, which will include roadways, stormwater retention, and even a modern sewer system. The project will receive an additional boost from a new regional water line, thanks to an $8 million state grant aimed at promoting rural water and sewer initiatives.

Workforce Ready to Go!

The Hardeeville site boasts access to a talented workforce of more than 400,000 people within a 60-mile radius. The region is known for its strong workforce development programs, including South Carolina’s famous readySC worker training, ensuring that this new project has the skilled employees it needs to thrive.

Support from All Directions

Jasper County Council Chairman Marty Sauls also chimed in on this monumental occasion, expressing his gratitude for the investments being made in the region. “This type of investment will create more opportunities and bring high-quality jobs for hardworking South Carolinians,” he said proudly.

Finally, Mark Hall, Principal of NorthPoint Development, extended his appreciation to everyone involved in the project’s success, including local and state supporters. With a strong backing from the SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance, this project promises to be a game changer for Hardeeville.

A Bright Future Ahead

With the construction of master infrastructure set for completion by October 2024, the South Atlantic Logistics Terminal is on the fast track to becoming a vital part of Hardeeville’s economic landscape. This project symbolizes hope and growth, paving the way for a brighter future for the community!
