Sponsor Our ArticlesPort Royal, a small but lively town, became the center of attention recently when a shocking incident unfolded just outside a local restaurant. On Thursday morning, patrons at Agave Mexican Grill were startled as gunfire erupted around 11:52 a.m., leading to investigations and arrests that have left many residents on edge.
According to reports, gunshots rang out near the popular Mexican eatery, causing chaos for those nearby. A vehicle waiting at a stoplight at the intersection of Ribaut Road and Lady’s Island Drive was struck by one of the bullets, though thankfully, no injuries were reported among those in the vicinity. Imagine sitting at your favorite cafe, enjoying a meal, and hearing shots fired—it’s a situation you wouldn’t expect to happen!
Police responded swiftly to the situation, and within no time, they apprehended two individuals in connection with the shooting. Charles Clayton Fullington, a 19-year-old resident, faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, aggravated breach of peace, drug possession, and a felony firearms offense. As of Monday, he remains in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
In a twist, the second individual, Theodore Lamont Frazier, who is 22 years old, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for second-degree harassment. Although he is deemed a “person of interest” in the Ribaut Road shooting, he had not been formally charged related to this incident by Monday morning. According to Capt. John Griffith of the Port Royal Police Department, the investigation is still ongoing.
Can you imagine dining out and suddenly hearing gunfire? Patrons at the restaurant likely experienced a wide range of emotions, from fear to confusion, as law enforcement took charge of the scene shortly after the shooting. Police discovered several spent shell casings littered across the parking lot, serving as stark reminders of the violent turn of events just moments before.
Residents of Port Royal have expressed their concern about the rising violence and what it means for their community. Many people in the area appreciate the quick response of law enforcement but are still left wondering what led to such a reckless act. It’s a discussion that resonates in neighborhoods everywhere—how can we feel safe in our own towns?
As of early this week, the investigation remains active and ongoing. Port Royal police are likely sifting through evidence and conducting interviews to gather any further details about the incident. Authorities are committed to uncovering all aspects surrounding the gunfire, aiming to reassure locals that they are working diligently to maintain safety.
While this incident has raised alarm and left many on high alert, there’s a sense of hope that the community will rally together. Port Royal is known for its friendly atmosphere and supportive residents, and ongoing discussions of safety and community involvement can only strengthen the bonds between neighbors.
As police continue their efforts to piece together what happened and ensure justice is served, residents are encouraged to remain watchful and supportive of one another. Let’s hope that this instance of violence is an isolated event, and that peace returns to our charming town of Port Royal.
Stay safe, everyone!
