New Fishing Pier to be constructed along the Spanish Moss Trail in Beaufort, South Carolina

A significant development is set to unfold in Beaufort, South Carolina. The city’s Capital Projects Department has announced a plan to carry out substantial repairs on the pedestrian bridge and initiate the construction of a new fishing pier on the Spanish Moss Trail on Battery Creek, near the Technical College of the Lowcountry.

Details on the Project

Construction is slated to commence on Wednesday, May 1, with a projected completion date of Sunday, June 30. It should be noted that these dates are estimates hinging on weather conditions and the availability of necessary supplies.

The bridge and fishing pier, located on the Spanish Moss Trail between the street crossings at Hermitage Road and Cottage Farm Drive, will witness the construction works carried out by a local entity, O’Quinn Marine Construction.

Closure of Spanish Moss Trail

During the course of the project, the entire part of the Spanish Moss Trail that stretches between Cottage Farm Road and Hermitage Road will be temporarily closed. Construction traffic and staging of materials will create blockages and disturbances, affecting the usage of the trail and the bridge.

For their safety and wellbeing as well as to guarantee the smooth operation for the contractor, citizens are advised to refrain from using this section of the trail. Additional information regarding the closure can be found on the Spanish Moss Trail’s dedicated website.
