Hey there, Savannah food lovers! We have some very exciting news for you! This week, the charming city of Savannah welcomed a brand new Italian restaurant to its vibrant food scene. Say hello to Veratina, which has officially opened its doors for lunch service at 606 Abercorn Street, right between Huntington and Hall Streets.
If you’re scratching your head trying to remember what used to occupy this spot, you are not alone! The location has seen quite a few different faces over the past several years. The most recent tenant was a plant-based eatery called The Haunt. Before that, this was home to the beloved Leoci’s Trattoria, a popular spot that graced our city roughly a decade ago. Let’s just say it has had its ups and downs!
The brain behind this exciting venture is a lovely couple from Pittsburgh who have decided to make Savannah their home. Their culinary journey started with an upcoming fried chicken restaurant called Coop DeVille at the Eastern Wharf project. We hear that construction on that project has been a bit of a saga, but the good news is that it has finally begun! While waiting for that to kick off, they took the plunge and opened Veratina. And boy, are we glad they did!
Now, let’s talk about the space itself. You won’t believe the transformation they’ve done! What was once a long-forgotten, dark corner has been turned into a bright, open-plan environment that just beckons you to come in and stay awhile. The renovation has totally revamped the atmosphere, making it a delightful addition to the southeastern corner of downtown Savannah.
As of now, Veratina is serving lunch only, so if you’re looking to indulge in some delicious Italian fare, plan to stop by between 11 AM and 4 PM. They’ve also applied for a wine and liquor license, so once that’s sorted out, we can expect to see regular dinner service in the not-so-distant future!
What can you expect from the menu? Well, it appears to be fairly straightforward yet enticing. The buzz around town is that everything coming out of the kitchen so far has been absolutely delicious. We can’t wait to give it a try ourselves! Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated on our first visit, and let you know if it lives up to the hype. Are you excited? We sure are!
So there you have it, folks! Veratina is already making a splash in Savannah’s food scene, and it looks like it’s here to stay. If you’re wandering the Historic District looking for somewhere new to enjoy a meal, be sure to pay them a visit. Trust us; you’re not going to want to miss this!
As new developments arise, we’ll be right here sharing all the latest. Who knows what other tasty adventures await? Make sure to stay tuned, and we’ll see you around Savannah!
