The famed Culinary Institute of the South at the Technical College of the Lowcountry is set to host another Enrollment Expo on Sept. 16 for interested students. The event will be hosted at TCL’s New River Campus located in Bluffton.
The Expo, which will run from 4 to 6 p.m., will not only provide detailed information about the different courses and programs at TCL but also help attendees with application procedures. Representatives from the school’s faculty and staff will be present to answer any inquiries from prospective students. Participants at the Expo will also get crucial information about financial aid and scholarships.
The grand opening of the institute is scheduled in November, but classes will commence in October at the newly built campus located in Buckwalter Place, Bluffton. This spacious new facility is still under construction, creating anticipation among students and faculty alike.
The Culinary Institute offers a state-of-the-art 29,000 square-foot training facility packed with academic resources. Features of the facility include six academic classrooms, two teaching kitchens, a lecture theater, and two baking labs. Furthermore, the institute will unveil a teaching restaurant where students can have hands-on experience, simulating real-world industry pressures and demands.
A much-anticipated addition to the institute’s campus due in 2022 is the FOODseum – an interactive museum aimed at narrating the enriching story of Southern food.
Students have the option of choosing from three different program areas – Baking & Pastry, Culinary, and Hospitality. Pursuers of these programs will have the opportunity to earn an associate’s degree or certificate, enriching their resumes and bolstering their skills.
