Beaufort has recently been buzzing with exciting news! On September 3, Enmarket, a beloved convenience store chain based in Savannah, Georgia, made a splash by donating a whopping $28,277.29 to nine United Way organizations across three states. This kind-hearted contribution is aimed at supporting various local communities, ensuring that essential services reach those who need them most.
The funds were channeled to several notable United Way organizations, including the United Way of the Lowcountry right here in Beaufort. This incredible organization, known for its volunteer-driven initiatives, is supported by hundreds of dedicated community leaders, professionals, and volunteers, all working together in fundraising, marketing, and decision-making roles. Their efforts focus on making sure that donations like those from Enmarket truly create a positive impact.
Enmarket isn’t just a convenience store; it’s a prominent chain in the region, employing over 1,300 people and operating a total of 132 convenience stores, alongside 32 Eatery and 40 Eatery Express locations in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Additionally, they run several restaurants, including popular names like Subway and Larry’s Giant Subs, along with 26 Marketwash car washes. With such a wide reach, their community involvement means a lot to many.
You might be curious about how such a significant contribution was raised. Well, a large portion of the donations came straight from Enmarket customers through an in-store round-up campaign. At checkout, customers had the choice to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, with all the extra cents going directly to support the United Way. Enmarket’s company headquarters also chipped in, contributing an additional $5,000 to boost the total amount.
Matt Clements, the President of Enmarket, expressed immense pride in this community-driven initiative. “We are proud that 110 locations participated in this fundraising drive,” he shared. “This is where customers had the option to round up their purchase, with the change going to United Way. Enmarket, as part of the Colonial Group family of companies, has a long history of supporting United Way, and this drive was an effective and fitting way to continue that tradition.”
The donations are set to be used at the discretion of each receiving United Way organization. Alongside the United Way of Beaufort, other organizations benefiting from Enmarket’s generosity include the Greater Valdosta United Way, Trident United Way in North Charleston, SC, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County in Asheville, NC, United Way of Central Georgia in Macon, United Way of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, United Way of South Central Georgia in Tifton, United Way of Southeast Georgia in Statesboro, and United Way of the Coastal Empire in Savannah. It’s heartwarming to see so many communities coming together for a common cause!
Kimberly Waller, President and CEO of the United Way of the Coastal Empire, couldn’t help but express gratitude for the support. “Enmarket’s support is a testament to the power of community collaboration,” she noted. “These funds will greatly enhance our ability to provide essential services to those in need, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity.”
It’s worth highlighting that Enmarket’s contributions to the United Way are part of a broader commitment rooted deeply in its parent company, Colonial Group, which has a rich history of supporting the organization. Colonial Group is a fourth-generation family-owned business, founded back in 1921, and has always extended its support to community initiatives, ensuring a brighter future for everyone.
As we celebrate this wonderful initiative from Enmarket, it also inspires us all to consider how we can contribute to making our communities stronger and more supportive. Small acts of kindness can snowball into significant change, and every little bit truly counts!
