It’s a big day in Savannah as the Southeast Georgia Leadership Forum has just revealed that the incredible Dr. Paul Pressly will be honored with the prestigious 2025 Legacy Leader Award. Dr. Pressly is not just an educator and historian; he’s a community leader who has truly changed the game in Savannah by connecting people from all walks of life.
Dr. Pressly has had a hand in many significant projects that have enhanced the cultural and civic fabric of our beloved city. Once at the helm of the Savannah Country Day School, he also created the remarkable Horizons program, which has reached over 300 public school students every summer, giving them opportunities to shine and grow.
But that’s not all! This visionary leader has actively shaped policy for independent schools across the nation. He has served as chairman of the Board of the National Association of Independent Schools and even held the role of President-General of the Cum Laude Society. Not to forget, he was the chairman of the SAT Committee for the College Board, playing a critical role in educational assessments.
Dr. Pressly is also known for his love for the environment. He worked hard as the director of the Ossabaw Island Education Alliance, a partnership that opened up the pristine and beautiful Ossabaw Island—spanning 26,000 acres—to students, researchers, and educational groups. Thanks to his efforts, resources and opportunities now abound for those seeking knowledge about this unique ecosystem. He even wrote two books that dive into the early history of Georgia, showcasing his dedication to both education and our local heritage.
Dr. Pressly has tirelessly worked to connect diverse ethnic groups and non-profits in Savannah, making significant contributions that often go unnoticed. He has led Senior Citizens Inc., chaired the Sarah Mills Hodge Foundation, and even held the presidency of the Rotary Club of Savannah. His board memberships span across organizations like the Georgia Historical Society, Telfair Museum, and so many more!
The Legacy Leadership Award will be just one of three accolades presented at the much-anticipated Southeast Georgia Leadership Forum, which is set to take place on March 3-4, 2025, right at the stunning Kehoe Iron Works at Trustees Garden. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or just stepping into your leadership role, this two-day event promises to be a melting pot for growth, networking, and empowerment.
Past forums have attracted over 400 dynamic attendees each year, representing a rich tapestry of leaders from civic groups, businesses, and non-profits. And the price to attend? A reasonable $490 gets you a seat at all speaker presentations, regional tours, daily lunch, and some delightful coffee breaks to keep your energy up!
