Devils Rout Cardinals in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Dickinson men’s tennis team secured a convincing 7-2 victory over the Cardinals of Catholic University on Wednesday afternoon at Chaplin Park. The Devils displayed strong performances in both doubles and singles matches to secure the win.

Doubles (DEVILS 2-1)

The Devils started the day strong in doubles play, with the third pair of Drew Allen and Eddy Chow setting the tone by defeating Lucas Boyle and Leyton Ramos-Platt with a score of 8-2. Following suit, the second duo of DJ Finnell and Levi Veleanu secured an 8-4 victory against Henry Ogden and Charles Robbins. Dickinson faced their only setback in the top slot, where James Earwood and Diego Romo were defeated by Romano De Caprio and Will Lewis with a score of 8-5.

Singles (DEVILS 5-1)

The singles matches were equally impressive for the Red and White as they dominated the Cardinals. The top two spots in the ladder required super tiebreakers, with Earwood edging out Veleanu at one (10-8), and De Caprio securing a 10-5 victory against Romo in the second position. Finnell continued the winning streak for Dickinson with another super tiebreak victory at three, defeating Ogden 10-6. The Devils then clinched the victory with straight-set wins at four and five by Lewis (6-4, 6-3) and Allen (6-0, 7-5) respectively. The sixth slot saw Aidan MacIntosh sealing the win with a fourth super tiebreak of the match, winning against Ramos-Platt with a score of 10-7.

The Next Serve

Dickinson (7-1) will conclude their spring trip on Friday morning at 10 am when they face off against the Hornets of Shenandoah University at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Club.
