Debbie Kurkul, who lives on the island, was simply enjoying a typical day when she spotted the fascinating scene from her upstairs deck. With a mix of excitement and disbelief, she captured the moment on video, allowing all of us to share in her astonishment. “Oh my God, they’re jumping over!” she exclaimed. It seems that these nimble creatures had an interesting dilemma—maybe they were puzzled about how to get off that dock!
Imagine being a deer, standing on a dock with the beautiful waters of Hilton Head surrounding you. Debbie mused that they might not have realized how to make their way back to safe ground.

Their little dockside adventure provided a delightful surprise for locals and visitors alike. We can only imagine that Debbie wasn’t the only one who had a good laugh about it.
