Savannah’s Davenport House Museum Welcomes New Senior Program Manager KRISTIN MIKLES
Savannah, GA – The Historic Savannah Foundation, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of Savannah’s defining heritage, announced that Kristin Mikles recently joined the Davenport House Museum’s team as the new Senior Program Manager. In this role, Mikles will play an instrumental role in organizing and implementing a plethora of community-based programs at the museum, a historical Federal-style home built in 1820 that initiated Savannah modern-day preservationist movement.
Mikles’s Experience in New Role
Prior to this role, Mikles served as a Gallery Host at Telfair Museums in Savannah, Ga., marking her involvement in the local history and arts scene. Her career in museums started at the Delaware Historical Society in Wilmington, Del. Working there, she researched and curated a groundbreaking exhibition on queer history in Delaware, the first of its kind in the state.
Background
Not new to the world of history, arts and languages, Mikles was born and raised in Newark, Del., where she attended Cab Calloway School of the Arts during her middle and high school years, focusing on Theatre and Technical Theatre. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in American History and minoring in Ancient Greek, exhibiting her passion for cultural studies. She has studied six languages, and she has self-published three novels.
