Beaufort, SC – The annual event “Dancing with Our Stars,” hosted by the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) in partnership with the Exchange Club of Beaufort, took place on March 14 and 15, 2025, raising $258,814 to support CAPA’s vital programs.

Presented by Hilton Head Cadillac, the event featured local stars paired with professional dance instructors who showcased their choreographed performances.

  • Preview Show: March 14, 2025
  • Main event and winners announced: March 15, 2025

CAPA Executive Director Christina Wilson expressed her gratitude for the community’s support, highlighting the significant impact of the funds raised on the services provided to children and families in the Lowcountry.

The event coincided with the 40th anniversary of CAPA’s Open Arms Children’s Home, which has operated since 1985, serving over 2,543 children.

Awards and Winners

This year’s winners included:

  • People’s Choice Award: K Squared (Kelly Collins and Kimani Brown-Carpenter)
  • Judges’ Choice Award: Gunpowder And Lead (Greg Godfrey and Hannah Lienhop)
  • Kids’ Choice Award: Fire & Flow (Casey Phelps and Megan Clavijo)
  • Alumni Choice Award: Height And Hustle (Dee Simpson and Shykeem Gardner)
  • Best Choreography: The Belles (Allison Summerall and Amy Arias)
  • Best Costume: “Man”-ifesting The Mirrorball (Jennifer Tuckwiller and Ellyn Grace Tuckwiller)

Proceeds from “Dancing with Our Stars” will directly benefit the Open Arms Children’s Home, the only local safe haven for abused and neglected children.

CAPA, a United Way agency, has been providing prevention and intervention programs since its charter in 1981. Their services include:

  • Outreach programs
  • Parenting education
  • Home visitation
  • Safe sleep education
  • Foster care services

The community’s response, along with the efforts of sponsors, volunteers, and attendees, has been essential to the success of the event, which was live-streamed by the Beaufort County Channel.
