Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect as Savannah Prepares for Weekend Weather Change

Coastal Conditions and Weather Update for Savannah, GA

Hello Savannah! As we embrace another day in our beautiful city, there are a few things to keep in mind regarding the weather and coastal conditions. Right now, we are under a Coastal Flood Advisory that’s in effect until 11 AM this morning. With high tide expected to rise to about 9.6 feet at Fort Pulaski around 9:30 AM, it’s important to be cautious if you are near the waterfront. Minor flooding can affect certain areas, especially during these high tide events, so keep an eye on the conditions and plan accordingly!

A Little Rain, but Not Too Much

Looking ahead in the forecast, we can expect another chance of rain on Thursday. However, the chances are much lower compared to what we experienced yesterday. Isolated showers might pop up during the afternoon and early evening hours, but don’t worry too much; it’s expected to be a minor inconvenience at most. Highs for Thursday will be reaching the comforting mid-80s. So, if you have plans, be sure to keep an umbrella handy but also don’t be afraid to bask in the sun!

As we look forward to Friday, things are shaping up to be delightful! Morning temperatures will linger in the upper 60s, with some patches of fog possible. However, once the sun rises high, we’re expecting the temperature to climb back into the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies. It sounds like a fantastic evening for Friday night football and those outdoor plans you’ve been looking forward to!

It’s Almost Fall!

Speaking of plans, the weekend looks bright and beautiful! We can expect mostly dry conditions continuing through Saturday and Sunday. With fall officially kicking off on Sunday morning, it’s a great time to get outside and enjoy the changing season. High temperatures will remain in the mid-80s, perfect for a stroll or a picnic in one of our lovely parks!

What’s Happening in the Tropics?

Tropical Storm Gordon are still floating around, holding a 40% chance of reforming into a tropical depression in the central Atlantic, but thankfully, it doesn’t pose a threat to land at this point. Just to the west of that area, there is a low-pressure system developing too, but it also carries a low-end risk of creating significant weather in the next week.

Another area to watch is the western Caribbean Sea. There’s a 40% chance that this area could turn into a tropical depression sometime next week. This potential system is expected to move toward the Gulf of Mexico. However, there are still many unknowns regarding its strength and path. If it does end up impacting the U.S., we might start to feel its effects toward the end of next week or into the weekend. So, it’s a good idea to stay informed and keep an eye on updates!

Wrapping It Up

So there you have it, Savannah! Whether it’s planning your day around some rain showers or enjoying the sunshine leading into the weekend, being prepared is key. Make sure to enjoy the beautiful fall weather that’s just around the corner, and let’s keep our fingers crossed for a smooth tropical season ahead!
