Beaufort to Host Second Annual “Chalk It Up!” Festival March 28-30

The second annual “Chalk It Up!” festival will transform downtown Beaufort into an open-air gallery on March 28 through March 30.

Event Details

Hosted by: Freedman Arts District, a nonprofit promoting arts in the area.
Opening Reception: Kicking off the festival on Friday, March 28, featuring a stage production with Aunt Pearlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk and a presentation by historian Valinda W. Littlefield.
Admission: Free for all attendees.

Chalk Art Activities

Throughout the weekend, over 40 artists will create elaborate chalk art on pavement canvases, with sizes ranging from 4-foot squares to large vertical panels.

Artists will dedicate nearly 17 hours to complete their pieces while visitors can watch the process from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The festival will showcase local talent along with artists from as far afield as Utah. Returning artists include:
