Hey there, lovely folks of Savannah! Have you heard the buzz around town? The rumor mill has been working overtime lately, especially in the quaint little neighborhood of Sandfly. It seems that word on the street was spreading like wildfire that one of the area’s beloved dining spots, Castaway’s, was facing closure. But fear not! We’re here to dish out the real scoop and set the record straight.
You know how it goes – sometimes when people whisper, the stories can spiral out of control. It all started with an innocent email to the Eat It and Like It World Headquarters. At first, it seemed amusing, and honestly, I didn’t think much of it. But as emails began pouring in, curiosity piqued my interest, especially when Chip sent in the fifth email while I was off gallivanting in sunny Florida. That was my cue! Time to pick up the phone and get to the bottom of these whispers.
As soon as I reached out to Kirk Blaine, who has been the Executive Chef and part-owner of Castaway’s since its inception, the word was clear: “Absolutely not.” That’s right, folks! No truth to the rumor about closing down. Kirk’s been steering the culinary ship at Castaway’s since November 2015, and he has no plans of leaving the helm.
Now, here’s where it gets a bit personal. Kirk originally partnered with the late Jim Cole, and together they crafted the restaurant into a beloved local gem. Sadly, Jim passed away back in May, and that left his family with the decision of how to proceed. After weighing their options, they chose to sell their share to Kirk. As of today, November 1, 2024, Kirk is officially calling all the shots as the proud 100% owner of Castaway’s!
So, go ahead and breathe a sigh of relief, friends. Castaway’s is not going anywhere! Kirk wants everyone to know that everything will remain exactly the same. Yes, you heard that right! The menu? Still your favorite dishes. The staff? Still made up of familiar faces who make your dining experience delightful. The decor? Just as cozy as ever, radiating that welcoming local vibe you love. Kirk emphasizes, “Absolutely nothing we’ve been doing is going to change.” Now that’s music to our ears!
This little tale in Sandfly has reached a happy ending, don’t you think? With the change in ownership settled, we can safely put those lingering rumors to rest. Castaway’s is as solid as ever, cooking up the dishes you crave and providing that warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Next time someone mentions a closing, you can confidently say, “Not a chance!”
With all the chatter finally quieted, it looks like Sandfly will continue to enjoy its treasured Castaway’s. So, gather your friends and family, head over, and enjoy a meal at your favorite local haunt. Cheers to new beginnings and delicious meals ahead!
Remember, if you hear a rumor, it’s always best to check the facts! Happy dining, Savannah!
