SAVANNAH, Ga. – With a history tracing back to 1924, the Byrd Cookie Company marked an important milestone this year as it celebrated its 100th year in operation. The cookie company, known for its delectable treats, is a beloved establishment in the country, resonating with multiple generations of cookie enthusiasts.

The company, a family-owned business, prides itself for its century-long legacy that has been carried forward over five generations. As shared by Geoff Repella, President of Byrd Cookie Company, “We have this incredible, 100-year-old legacy of five generations of family. Then we also have this great nervous energy pushing and trying and doing.”

From periods of back-breaking 24-hour baking cycles to scaling down to an 8-hour routine, the Byrd Cookie Company has seen it all. Jamie Lindley, Vice President of Operations Byrd Cookie Company recalls these transformations, underlying the resilience of the company in adaptating to various phases.

From a Downtown Bakery to Nationwide Presence

Four score and a century back, Benjamin Tillman Byrd Sr. laid the foundation of the company in downtown Savannah. Over the course of 100 years, the homegrown bakery has blossomed into a national stalwart with stores in five states. Today, the cookie company flourishes with 24 more stores, three production facilities, and a century-old entrepreneurial spirit.

A Century-Old Vision and a Baby’s Legacy

The business, which was once in the hands of Benjamin Tillman Byrd, is now preparing to welcome its youngest family member, Ellie, the 6th generation representative. This cherished succession reflects the deeply ingrained family values that have shaped the business empire. There is a firm belief in perpetuating the family legacy for the next 100 years, showcasing the indomitable spirit of the Byrd family.
