Bluffton Pool Closed for Summer Renovation; Other Beaufort County Pools Remain Open

Bluffton Pool, a popular summer spot located at 55 Pritchard St. in Bluffton, officially closed on June 3 for extensive renovation and construction leaving local residents searching for alternatives for pool entertainment this summer. The current project is scheduled to last until Feb. 1, 2025, according to the Beaufort County Parks and Recreation Department. However, several other community pools in Beaufort County remain open and are ready to welcome swimmers of all ages.

Details About the Bluffton Pool Renovation

Upon completion, the Bluffton Pool will feature updated exteriors, a newly installed air system, insulation in the roof, and extensive improvements to the interior decor. This comprehensive renovation is estimated to take around eight months. Current progress is said to be nearing the completion of the demolition phase of the project.

Communication about Closure

Patrons of the pool were informed of the summer-long closure through personal notifications and updates posted on the official Beaufort County Parks and Recreation’s website.

Other Pools in Beaufort County

While the Bluffton pool undergoes its transformation, there are several other pools in Beaufort County still open and ready to greet swimmers. These options include the Alvin Settles Pool on 1710 Greene Street in Beaufort featuring two outdoor pools, sprinklers, umbrella waterfall, and an inflatable obstacle course along with numerous other amenities. Another indoor option is The Battery Creek Pool located at 1B Blue Dolphin Drive offering a heated 25-yard pool with six lanes. The Beaufort Pool, located on 35 Youmans Drive in Lady’s Island also offers a 25-yard indoor pool with six lanes.

Access to the Pools

It is essential to note that all Beaufort county pools require valid photo identification for entry. These pools are intended for Beaufort County residents, but guests can accompany residents for a nominal fee. In the case of children below 18 years, they must be on an account with their parent or legal guardian and should possess a photo ID.

Despite the temporary closure of the much-loved Bluffton Pool, the residents of Beaufort County still have plenty of options to enjoy a cool dip in the hot summer months. While eagerly awaiting the reopening of the comprehensively improved and renovated Bluffton Pool in 2025, local swimmers are encouraged to enjoy the other available pool facilities around Beaufort County.
