Fourth Suspect Arrested in Beaufort September Shooting That Claimed Teen’s Life

Fourth Arrest Made in Connection to September Shooting in Beaufort

In a somber twist of events, Beaufort is grappling with the aftermath of a tragic shooting incident that occurred on September 15. The incident, which took place outside the Magnolia Park Apartments on Laurel Bay Road, has led to a fourth arrest, raising the community’s concern about safety and the prevalence of violence.

A Community Disrupted

On Friday, October 4, Derrick Jerrod McKee, a resident of Beaufort, was taken into custody. He now faces serious charges including murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace. McKee joins three other individuals already arrested in connection to the shooting: Storm Lemont Zop Polite from Dale, Jeremiah Kieyonte Warren of Beaufort, and Rashod Lorenzo Williams from Grays Hill. Each of these young men faces similar charges, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The Victim

The shooting claimed the life of 17-year-old Ari’Anna Mulligan, a senior at Bridges Preparatory School. Her untimely death has left a profound impact on her family, friends, and the community. Ari’Anna was shot outside her home, an act of violence that no one expected in their neighborhood. To complicate matters further, her brother was also among the two other individuals who were injured during this incident. He was hospitalized and is recovering from his injuries, but the scars from that night will linger.

Calls for Vigilance

As the investigation continues, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is urging the community to stay vigilant. A statement released by the Sheriff’s Office reads, “We encourage the public to report any suspicious or criminal activity to us by calling our non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.” This proactive approach is designed to involve residents in the quest for safety and justice.

How You Can Help

If anyone has additional information about the shooting or the individuals involved, they are encouraged to reach out. Master Sergeant Duncan is available at 843-255-3418, or you can submit tips online at BCSO.NET. Every bit of information could prove crucial in piecing together what happened that night.

Community’s Response

The shooting incident has sparked conversations about youth violence and the desperate need for community engagement in addressing such issues. Many residents are coming together to support each other and seek ways to prevent future tragedies. Community gatherings, discussions, and initiatives are being organized to foster a sense of unity and resilience among residents.

Lessons to Learn

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the serious consequences of violence, especially among the youth. It also raises important questions: How can we work together to foster a safer environment for our children? What measures can be taken to deter such tragic events from happening in the future? These are questions that every member of the community should ponder as we continue to support each other in the wake of this tragedy.

The community of Beaufort is determined to heal and move forward, holding onto the hope that through collective action and awareness, future incidents of violence can be avoided. Everyone is encouraged to look out for one another and keep the dialogue open—as they say, it takes a village.
