The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce has announced a leadership transition. Megan Morris, a native of Beaufort, has been appointed as the new president of the Chamber in a unanimous decision made by the Board of Directors.
Morris, who has served as interim president since November 2023, took over from the former president, Ian Scott, who resigned to secure a new opportunity in North Carolina. She joined the Chamber in August 2021 initially as the Director of Member Services, and later got promoted to the vice president position.
As the president, Megan will serve as the chief executive of the Chamber overseeing all aspects of its operations. She will report directly to the Board of Directors through the annually elected Chair. She is expected to provide vision, strategic direction, and management for the programs and personnel of the organization.
In her official statement, Morris expressed her ambition for the Chamber, stating, “I decided several years ago that working to improve the community where I grew up was going to be a career goal for me. I believe the skill sets I bring to the Chamber will prove beneficial as we move forward on advocacy at the local, regional, state, and national levels. I look forward to leaving a positive legacy during my tenure as president.”
Expressing their confidence in Megan’s ability and dedication, 2024 Chair of the Chamber and Site Manager for MCAS Beaufort, Nick Messenburg, said, “The Board believes Megan possesses the ambition and energy to propel the Chamber to the next level of service for our members. She is bent on building a team of dedicated professionals, both internally and externally, to effectively lead and strengthen our cooperation with local, state, and national government officials. Beaufort stands to gain from numerous opportunities, and we believe that under Megan’s leadership, the Chamber will play a crucial role in shaping these solutions.”
Megan’s appointment comes at a vital time for the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce, an organization dedicated to enhancing the economic prosperity of the area through advocacy and business development. Megan’s pivotal role will direct the Chamber’s focus on strengthening its ties with governmental bodies and fortifying the business climate in the region.
Observers believe that Megan’s presidency will boost local businesses and the community because of her belief in the area’s potential and her commitment to achieving success using collaborative strategies. Megan plans to utilize her knowledge and expertise gained through her previous experiences with the chamber to guide its policies and activities, which will, in turn, stimulate the local economy.
This new development showcases the dedication of the Chamber, its members, and leadership to see Beaufort continue to thrive and prosper providing a conducive environment for businesses and community members alike.
