Hey there, Beaufort! This week, we are rolling out the red carpet for a remarkable veteran who has proudly served our country and continues to give back to our community. Say hello to Obner Lindor, a 51-year-old Navy veteran whose journey in the armed forces started back in 2006.
Obner kicked off his naval adventure by enlisting in the Navy while living in Miami. After successfully completing his Boot Camp training in Great Lakes, Illinois, he immersed himself in learning the ropes of medical service at hospital corpsman school. It wasn’t long before he found himself stationed at NAS Pensacola, where the real action began with a deployment to Kuwait.
After Kuwait, Obner’s journey took a thrilling turn as he joined the Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune. This was where he embarked on a deployment to Afghanistan, a life-changing experience that contributed immensely to his growth and skill set. Talk about adventure!
Once his duties overseas came to a close, Obner landed back on U.S. soil to focus on specializing in radiology. His next five-year tour took him to Quantico, Virginia, where he further honed his medical expertise. The Navy had entrusted him with vital responsibilities, and he delivered with flying colors.
In Newport, Rhode Island, he showcased his abilities by serving at both the Officer Candidate School (OCS) and the Naval War College. This phase of his military career added yet another layer to his rich tapestry of experiences.
After his time in Newport, Obner moved south and took on a role at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville, including duty at Mayport, Florida. His journey now brings him to our wonderful community in Beaufort, where he currently serves at the radiology clinic of the Naval Hospital Beaufort.
Beyond his impressive military service, Obner remains actively engaged in the community. His dedication to helping others doesn’t just stop at the clinic. Whether it’s volunteering for local events or participating in veteran outreach programs, it’s clear he has a passion for giving back.
We encourage everyone in Beaufort to take a moment and celebrate Obner Lindor and all our veterans who have served and continue to support our community. It’s vital that we recognize their contributions and sacrifices. If you’d like to nominate a veteran for our Veteran of the Week feature, feel free to reach out via email to jechubb1@gmail.com.
As we carry on with our lives in Beaufort, let’s remember the commitment and bravery that our service members exhibit each day—both in active duty and in civilian life. Whether it’s a simple “thank you” or attending a veteran-related event, let’s continue to show our appreciation to those who have given so much for our freedom.
So, Beaufort, let’s give a big shoutout to Obner Lindor! Thank you for your service, and thank you for making Beaufort a better place to live. Until next week, stay safe and remember to support our local heroes!
